Description

R-Pharm, a German pharmaceutical manufacturer, announced the closure of its production facility in Illertissen, resulting in the loss of 280 jobs. The employment impact will be realised by the end of August 2026.

The closure follows insolvency proceedings that were triggered by EU sanctions against Russia, which placed significant strain on the company's financial position. During the insolvency process, no investor could be found to secure the future of the site.

The works council negotiated a social plan with the insolvency administrator, which provides for severance payments. However, given the company's difficult financial situation, it remains uncertain to what extent, and when, employees will actually receive these payments. The employees have received their notice of dismissal. However, around 50 to 60 employees will remain on fixed-term contracts to manage the winding-down of the site.

Since 2014, the plant has been part of R-Pharm.
