Description

Homanit Lietuva, a Lithuanian subsidiary of German group Homann Holzwerkstoffe, operates in the wood products manufacturing sector. The company announced the temporary suspension of its timber board production line in Pagiriai, Vilnius region, leading to 200 job cuts across its workforce.

The shutdown is effective immediately and will resume once market conditions stabilize. The decision follows weaker than expected first-half results driven by a global decline in furniture demand and heightened costs for energy, wood, chemicals, and transport linked to the Middle East conflict. Homanit Lietuva aims to reduce losses of €5–6 million before resuming full operations.

All 200 contract terminations are direct dismissals at the Pagiriai plant. During the interim, approximately 20 employees will remain on site to maintain essential functions. The company currently employs about 255 people across its facilities.
