Description

Mata Automotive, a Turkish automotive component manufacturer, announced the closure of its plant in Nová Ves, near Veľký Krtíš, Slovakia, resulting in 120 job losses. The plant produced luxury wooden and carbon-fibre interior components for premium car brands, including Aston Martin and Tesla. Production will cease by the end of November 2026, with most layoffs taking effect by the end of October and a small team remaining afterward for wind-down activities.

The closure is attributed to a deteriorating European automotive market and a decline in orders. Affected employees will receive severance pay. The plant had been one of the largest employers in the region since 2017, in a district that has long faced limited job opportunities. Back in 2017, the company hired 250 employees: Mata Automotive 2017 - SK.
