European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Amazon, a US-based online retail and logistics company, has announced an expansion of its logistics centre in Pforzheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, which will create 1,000 new jobs by the end of 2029.
The expansion centres on a new robotics-enabled logistics hub that will store around 20 million items and utilise hundreds of transport robots to move goods, reducing the distances employees need to travel and increasing productivity. Digital automation is the main driver behind the job creation, with Amazon positioning the facility as a leading high-tech logistics site.
The mayor welcomed the investment of more than €300 million and the creation of new jobs, highlighting the positive impact on the regional economy. Job profiles include: specialists, management, and non-qualified warehouse and fulfillment staff.
The latest internal restructuring measure at Amazon was recorded in the ERM database earlier in 2026, involving the creation of 420 jobs in Brandenburg Amazon 2026 - DE.
The site currently employs around 1,000 people, meaning that the expansion will double the existing workforce.
