Description

Stadtverwaltung Dresden, the municipal authority of the City of Dresden, has announced plans to reduce its administrative workforce. An earlier internal plan from 2025 had envisaged the elimination of 875 full-time positions, but the more recent proposal foresees a larger reduction of at least 1,200 positions. The restructuring is due to commence this year and is expected to be completed by the end of 2031.

The planned workforce reduction affects public sector employees and forms part of the city's efforts to lower personnel costs in response to growing financial pressures, with expenditure having exceeded revenue for several consecutive years.

The specific measures through which the job cuts will be implemented have not been disclosed.

The City of Dresden currently employs 7,375 people.
