Description
Mercer Torgau, a German wood-processing company specialising in EPAL pallets and forest products, has announced 250 job cuts at its plant in Torgau, Germany. The restructuring is scheduled to be completed at the beginning of April 2027.
The reduction is being driven by market uncertainty, rising raw material and energy costs, and the need to improve efficiency and productivity in order to secure a sustainable future for the site. The company is working with employee representatives to ensure that the measures are implemented in a socially responsible manner.
The company, which is the largest employer in the region, currently employs around 690 people.
