Description
FAMUR/Grenevia, a Polish manufacturer of machinery for the mining sector, announced restructuring affecting its production sites in Nowy Sącz and Gorlice. In Nowy Sącz, the FAMUR Nowomag branch will cease production and be closed; around 120 employees are expected to be dismissed, while the site currently employs 152 people and some designers have already been transferred. In Gorlice, around 189 workers from a workforce of around 400 are expected to lose their jobs.
The restructuring is linked to lower demand for mining machinery, falling orders from Polish coal mines, the loss of eastern markets after the war in Ukraine, and the concentration of production capacity. Consultations with trade unions are ongoing, and voluntary departures or redeployment may be used where possible. An exact end date has not been announced.
