Description

Coin, an Italian department store retail group, signed an agreement between the trade unions Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl, Uiltucs and the company management, which provides for measures for 249 workers under the reorganization of the department store brand.

66 employees of the Cola di Rienzo store in Rome, which closed on following the eviction of the premises, while another 183 employees of the stores in Mestre, Rome San Giovanni and Roma Cinecittà will receive a temporary income.

Updated, 11/07/2026:

Announced a potential reduction of up to 113 jobs on a voluntary basis across several locations in Italy (including Rome, Milan, Bologna, Mestre and Florence) as part of a broader restructuring affecting around 380 employees.

The measures are embedded in a reorganisation and relaunch plan discussed at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy on 10 July 2026, aimed at restoring competitiveness through internal staff redistribution, new commercial partnerships with incoming brands, and the gradual reduction of reliance on short-time work schemes.

Job reductions are expected to be implemented mainly through voluntary exits with financial incentives, alongside redeployment of a significant number of workers to available positions within the company, thereby limiting compulsory redundancies and supporting early retirements.

Trade unions welcomed the progress following earlier industrial action and continue negotiations with management to secure employment safeguards, while the Italian government is monitoring the process and supporting a balanced solution to minimise social impact.
