European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
LDZ Cargo has announced a planned collective redundancy process that is expected to begin on 1 August 2026, with approximately 300 employees to be affected across Latvia, including more than 150 employees in Daugavpils.
The company states that the workforce reduction is driven by the continued decline in rail freight volumes, which has been caused by geopolitical developments, international sanctions, and the long-term contraction of transit cargo. The planned lay-offs are part of the company's efforts to adapt its operations and cost structure to the reduced level of business activity.
All affected staff will be dismissed collectively.
