European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Brelet, a French heavy load transport company, announced that 194 employees are at risk of redundancy following the opening of judicial recovery proceedings. The planned job losses are concentrated at the company's main site in Saint-Julien-de-Concelles.
The restructuring follows a business model weakened since the COVID-19 pandemic, compounded by rising fuel costs linked to tensions around the Strait of Hormuz and increasingly challenging market conditions: weak demand from retail, industrial and construction clients, rising fuel costs following the conflict in the Middle East, inflation, increasing insurance premiums and intense price competition within the transport market.
In the first quarter of 2026, 569 long-distance road transport companies in France were subject to judicial proceedings, highlighting the sector's ongoing financial difficulties.
