Description
Metsä Wood, a Finnish timber products manufacturer, announced that it will cut 100 jobs across its operations in Finland and Estonia. Additionally, 72 employees will be dismissed or reassigned.
The cuts target production plants and other entities, starting within days of the announcement and concluding by year-end. The restructuring aims to respond to weaker demand in the construction sector, particularly on domestic Finnish markets, and to broader changes in operating conditions that have eroded profitability for Metsä Wood’s wood products business.
Losses are concentrated in Finland’s main sites—32 positions at Punkaharju, 14 at Lohja and 7 at Äänekoski—while the remaining changes affect headquarters staff and other units in Estonia.
