European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Britax Römer, a German manufacturer of child car seats, is closing its production plant in Leipheim, resulting in the loss of more than 200 jobs, with additional administrative positions also being cut.
The shutdown represents the permanent closure of the facility, with future production being relocated to Asia due to lower manufacturing costs. The restructuring follows weak demand and continued pressure on profit margins. The trade union IG BCE strongly criticised the decision when it was announced in April 2025.
Britax Römer previously employed 290 people at its Leipheim site.
