European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Puma, a German sportswear manufacturer, announced that it will cut 900 jobs worldwide by the end of 2026. The redundancies will affect positions across the company’s global operations. Puma has manufacturing and operational facilities in several countries, including Argentina, Chile, China, Germany, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, South Africa, the United States and Vietnam.
The restructuring follows continued sales declines and increasing pressure from US tariffs. The measures form part of a turnaround strategy introduced by the company's new CEO, Arthur Hoeld, after several quarters of weak financial performance. During the first nine months of 2025, Puma’s turnover fell by 8.5%, while the company reported a net loss of €257 million.
