Description

Dow Chemical, an American chemical company, announced the elimination of 605 jobs in the Netherlands across its manufacturing sites in Terneuzen, Delfzijl and Dordrecht.

This restructuring is part of a worldwide reorganisation of DOW, Dow 2026 - WO, aimed at cost efficiency and generating $2 bn in EBITDA, driven by rising energy costs and regulatory pressures.

Job cuts are distributed among the three Dutch locations, but the exact split has not yet been disclosed. Direct dismissals are highly likely to occur, according to the chairman of the works council, as dismissals of this magnitude are unlikely achieved through natural attrition only.

The company’s global workforce totals nearly 35 000 employees. This restructuring follows several recent ones in the Netherlands which were recorded in the ERM events database: Dow 2025 - NL, Dow 2023 - NL, Dow 2023 - NL.
