European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Coldenhove Paper, a Dutch paper manufacturer, plans to cut around 110 jobs at its paper factory in Eerbeek, Gelderland, after the company was declared bankrupt. It is not yet clear whether all employees will be dismissed or whether some jobs can be preserved through a takeover or restart.
According to trade union CNV, the bankruptcy was linked to high energy prices, declining demand, US import tariffs and disruption to raw material deliveries related to the war in Iran; the factory is currently at a standstill while the curator searches for a possible buyer.
CNV said the bankruptcy is unfortunate but not entirely unexpected, stating that while its role is limited in the bankruptcy process it would support staff. Affected employees were urged to follow information from the curator and UWV.
Coldenhove Paper had operated in Eerbeek for 365 years and was part of the village’s long-established paper industry.
