Description

Porsche, a German automotive manufacturer, has announced the elimination of 200 positions at its Leipzig plant. The restructuring is due to be completed by August 2026.

The move reflects the company’s strategy to become leaner and reduce costs. The company recorded declining sales figures in the previous year.

The job cuts have been agreed with the works council. The departures will be voluntary, with severance packages offered. If fewer than 200 employees opt to leave, the remaining positions will be retained.

Porsche employs around 4,600 permanent staff in Leipzig. The last recorded restructuring by Porsche in the ERM was a reduction by 1,900 jobs at the company's Stuttgart and Weissach sites in 2025 Porsche 2025 - DE.
