Description

Ynsect, a French company specialising in insect-based animal feed, announced the cutting of 137 jobs in Amiens (Somme) and Dole (Jura). Among those, 66 positions will be cut on the Amiens vertical farm.

The company started to face financial difficulties during the construction of the site during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ukraine war and inflation further increased production costs, leading to important losses.

Before the layoffs, Ynsect employed 200 staff across its French operations.

** Updated, 09/06/2026** In December, the company was liquidated. Its 43 remaining employees were made redundant. No solid takeover offers were accepted by the court. Following the internal restructuring and liquidation, several legal proceedings by employees begun. They accuse the company of abusive firings. They also wonder whether the funding in France was used for the subsidiaries in the United States of America and in the Netherlands. The court currently needs to decide whether they will allow employees to have access to these financial documents.
