Description
add bold textWindhager, an Austrian heating-equipment manufacturer, announced around 50 job cuts in its workforce of 386 employees. The reductions affect its production units in the regional state of Salzburg outside of Seekirchen.
The cuts are driven by a challenging market for biomass heating and heat-pump systems, with demand falling sharply and subsidies becoming less supportive. Windhager also cited broader economic pressures.
Employees have been informed of the planned dismissals, with the company offering individualised exit packages in close coordination with employee representatives to mitigate impacts. The employees have already been registered with the PES' early warning system. Almost half of the job losses concern employees who are older than 50 years.
Windhager is owned by BWT, a water-treatment group, but the restructuring remains an internal measure aimed at stabilising the company amid declining sales.
