Description
MEGATECH Industries Jablonec, a subsidiary of the Italian company SAPA, has announced the layoff of 124 employees in connection with the closure of its plant in Jablonec nad Nisou. Among the professions affected by the layoffs, the largest share consists of operators, handlers – warehouse workers, and quality technicians.
Megatech produces plastic parts that are used in the manufacturing of vehicles. The plant closure is reflects the economic downturn of the automotive sector in Europe and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The information comes from a statement by the local employment office, which was notified of the mass layoffs and is seeking solutions to assist affected employees. The local employment office also mentioned the possibility to offer departing employees a comprehensive transition package featuring counselling, retraining, and job placement assistance to help them secure new employment before their current contracts end.
