European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Ecoservice Projektai, a Lithuanian waste-management firm responsible for the Šiauliai municipality, announced the dismissal of 61 employees from its sorting centre in Šiauliai. The cuts affect the plant’s staff, including 50 sorting specialists and a handful of drivers and supervisors. Ecoservice Projektai informed PES about the redundancies on 07 March 2025, indicating that layoffs will happen from 07 April onwards.
The company cited organisational changes under labour-code provisions as the cause. According to the company the scope of its operations have changed. All 61 separations are concentrated in Šiauliai, with no other sites involved.
Negotiations between the company and employment services about the possibility of a transfer of some of the laid off staff to other positions is currently being discussed.
The centre employed 278 workers prior to the layoffs. It is owned by the Vilnius-based environmental management company of the same name, "Ecoservice".
