Description

The HSE, the organisation managing and delivering public health service is creating 125 new jobs at its new surgical hub in Cork.

The hub will house four operating theatres, minor procedure rooms, and outpatient facilities, expanding capacity to handle up to 20,000 procedures annually and reduce waiting lists. Recruitment began early 2026 and the hub is expected to open by the end of September, with staff deployment scheduled accordingly.

Public authorities are involved in the project, notably the HSE South West and government representatives highlighted the role of the initiative in easing pressure on hospital services and improving patient outcomes.

The expansion reflects a strategic investment to improve patient flow and modernise the healthcare system in Munster, supporting the planned Cork Elective Hospital and regional access to elective care.
