European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Škoda Transtech, a Finnish tram manufacturer, has announced that up to 200 workers may be dismissed from its Otanmäki plant in Kainuu. The cuts stem from prolonged uncertainty surrounding the procurement of new trams by the city of Helsinki, a key project for the company’s local employment. Negotiations are underway, but no definitive timetable for the final decisions has yet been set.
The company employs around 600 people in its Otanmäki plant.
Updated, 26/08/2026 Škoda Transtech announced the dismissal of 117 workers from its Otanmäki plant in Kainuu, following negotiations over Helsinki's tram procurement. The decision follows earlier indications that up to 200 jobs could be cut.
