Description

The Technical Research Centre of Finland VTT, has announced the termination of 175 employees as part of a restructuring that merges three business areas into two new units—Digital Systems and Materials & Energy. The changes are set to take effect with a new operational model in early August 2026. The restructuring aims to reduce overlaps in functions, boost digital capabilities, and strengthen VTT’s focus on key technology sectors that support Finland’s economic growth. The adjustments are part of a broader digital transition strategy, and the affected staff are primarily from research and support roles.

The cooperation negotiations, which began in April, were initially estimated to result in 190 job losses. The final number of dismissals has thus decreased during the negotiations, which covered all of VTT's staff of about 2,300 employees.
