Description

Venator , a German chemical company specialising in white pigments, announced the permanent closure of its plant in Krefeld-Uerdingen. The decision will result in the loss of around 350 jobs at the Uerdingen Chempark site, with the positions to be cut by the end of May 2026.

The closure, caused by provisional insolvency, was confirmed following the initial insolvency filing in September 2025. No investor could be found for the site, as a potential investor from China ultimately decided against proceeding.

A transfer company has been set up, and the employees are to be supported in finding new jobs.

At the beginning of the year, the company’s Duisburg site was saved, as a new investor took over the plant and the approximately 350 employees.
