Description

Bühler, a Swiss machinery manufacturer, announced that it will shut down its production in Braunschweig, Germany, resulting in the loss of 200 jobs. The plant will cease production at the end of the year.

Bühler cites a long-term decline in demand for machines and components for the food and feed industry in Europe as the main reason for this decision. The company plans to move production to other locations, while keeping customer service, sales, technology, and project management in Braunschweig.

The company’s management stated that they want to reduce jobs in a socially responsible way. The trade union IG Metall has said that it will support the affected workers and will fight for keeping the jobs if possible.

Bühler currently employs 400 people in Braunschweig.
