Description
Morrow Batteries ASA, a Norwegian battery cell developer and manufacturer, announced the closure of its factory in Arendal on 6 May 2026. The company has dismissed all 210 employees as a result of the bankruptcy filing. However, the estate manager has stated that there is considerable interest in the estate and that operations could thus continue. 80 workers are offered temporary employment under the bankruptcy estate, to ensure continued operations in a transition fase and to prevent loss of key competence. The shutdown follows persistent financial difficulties and an inability to secure sufficient capital, despite significant investment from Å Energi and other stakeholders. Morrow Batteries aimed to supply the European market with sustainable lithium-ion cells.
