Description
Covalen, an Irish outsourcing firm that provides content moderation and AI training services for Meta, has announced that around 700 jobs in its Dublin operations are at risk. This is on top of the redundancies announced in late 2025 (which totalled 300). Covalen 2025 - Ireland
The restructuring follows Meta’s strategy to reduce reliance on third-party suppliers for content moderation, prompting Covalen to reassess its workforce. Consultations have begun with employees in Dublin to support affected teams during the transition. The Communications Workers’ Union has expressed shock and anger over the news.
In May, members of the Communications Workers' Union (CWU) employed at Covalen engaged in a one-day strike in a dispute over the redundancy payments and other matters.
Covalen employs some 4,500 people in Ireland, across two sites. With approximately 2,000 employed in Dublin and 2,500 in Limerick.
