Description
Saar‑Service, a German building cleaning company based in Saarbrücken, announced the termination of 180 positions. The job cuts will be implemented by the end of May 2026.
The reductions are the result of SSG failing to retain its a major public contract with the city of Saarbrücken in a current tender process. According to the city, the competing company submitted the most cost-effective offer.
Around 180 employees are being laid off through dismissals, which they have already received. The trade union IG Bau has criticised the layoffs.
The company most recently employed around 650 cleaning staff.
