Description

3G, an Italian company operating in the Customer relationship management and business process outsourcing sector and currently involved in Enel’s procurement activities, has announced that up to 160 jobs at its Sulmona site (Abruzzo, Italy) are at risk of relocation.

The potential job losses are linked to changes in Enel’s procurement procedures following the introduction of a new tender based on resource‑optimisation criteria and the expanded use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence. These changes have led to the reassignment of the relevant service contract to another supplier.

Trade unions, in particular UGL Telecomunicazioni, have opposed the tender conditions and raised concerns about their impact on employment. As a result, the Abruzzo Regional Labour Authority convened a meeting on 5 May 2026 with trade unions, local authorities and the companies involved. In parallel, a formal request for intervention has been submitted to the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy.
