Description

The German discount retailer Aldi Süd announced plans to cut up to 1,250 jobs. Most of the job losses are expected to affect the site in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In particular, more than 1,000 positions are planned to be cut in the digital unit ALDI DX. The purchasing department is also likely to be affected. There are no plans for redundancies; instead, employees are to leave voluntarily and receive severance pay.

ALDI SÜD announced these plans in April 2026, and the measures are to be implemented by the end of 2027. The company explains the decision as part of efforts to optimise processes. In the future, certain activities are to be bundled at the Salzburg site. The company plans to rely on a voluntary programme and compulsory redundancies are not planned.

Aldi Süd employs around 50,000 people.

Previous internal restructuring measures were recorded in the ERM database in January 2026, involving 500 job cuts Aldi Süd 2026 - DE.
