Description

Capgemini, a French digital consulting firm, has announced a reduction of up to 748 positions (roughly 7% of its 11,000-strong workforce) in Spain. The restructuring is driven by the impact of artificial intelligence and the need to adapt organisational capabilities for long-term sustainability.

The negotiations with trade unions have alredy started on 23 April 2026, where no specific sites are listed. The job cuts affect the overall workforce. The company is undertaking an internal restructuring, with digital transformation as the key catalyst.

Updated, 14/05/2026:

Capgemini has reached a pre-agreement with trade unions to reduce the scope of its Employment Redundancy File (ERE) to 710 employees, approximately 5% fewer than initially announced. The measure will ultimately affect 6.45% of the company’s workforce in Spain. Under the terms agreed with reade unions, employees under the age of 63 will receive severance pay of 38 days per year of service, capped at 20 months’ salary. For those aged 63 and over, compensation will amount to 20 days per year, with a maximum of 15 months. Additional voluntary departure bonuses range from €10,000 for workers under 50 to €24,000 for those aged 55 to 62. A special Social Security agreement will cover contributions until the age of 63, while older employees may benefit for up to two years. Further measures include vulnerability bonuses, extended health insurance coverage and a commitment from Capgemini not to initiate another collective redundancy process within the next two years.
