European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Bauer Media, a German media publishing company, announced closing its Bauer Xcel Media unit which runs digital publishing activities in Germany. The step will result in the loss of about 160 positions.
The decision is driven by the ongoing digital transition that reshapes user behaviour and the advertising market, requiring a realignment of the company’s structures. The job losses will be completed by the end of September 2026. The restructuring involves a full closure of its digital unit.
The company intends to work closely with the works council when realising the job cuts and to prioritise employees of Bauer Xcel Media when filling new position in Bauer Media.
Bauer Media employs around 1,300 staff in Germany.
