Description
Cablerie Lapp, the French subsidiary and first global production site of the German Lapp group, has been located in Forbach since 1990, employing 265 people. In 2022, it received a 7.5 million euros investment from the parent company to support the relocation of supplies for solar and photovoltaic equipment, previously manufactured in Asia, back to France. This investment also facilitated the acquisition of new equipment, enabling an increase in production volumes, particularly for the Ölflex cable, the company's flagship product designed for industrial environments. The company claimed that reasons for the relocation are rising international transport costs that have adversely affected profitability and contradicted the company's preference for short supply chains. Thus, the decision to produce locally in Forbach aligns with a more logical and profitable approach.
Cablerie Lapp's Forbach site, producing 130,000 kilometers of cable annually and generating a turnover of 135 million euros in 2021. The factory foresees around thirty new hires and anticipates further investments extending until 2026.
