Description

TPL Systèmes, based in Sarlat, specializes in the production of walkie-talkies and radio communication equipment for various sectors, including firefighters, security operators, and energy infrastructure providers. It has 70 employees and an annual turnover of around €24 million. The company previously had its electronic cards manufactured in China or Europe before assembling the equipment in Sarlat. In response to the challenged posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the related logistic difficulties and uncertainty connected to product delivery, TPL Systèmes invested €3.1 million, including a government grant of €800,000, in a new electronic card manufacturing line in Sarlat. The strategic decision aims to make the company 100% autonomous in the production of electronic cards within five years, moving away from its previous reliance on Chinese manufacturing. The cost of production remains comparable to its operations in China, thanks to and the adoption of a highly sophisticated and automated production line that limits labor costs and the use of the same equipment adopted in China. This shift has also induced a review of product design and manufacturing processes and has had a positive impact on the company’s carbon foorprint. The company is considering further internalization of plastic injection production capabilities in the medium term.
