Description
Pihlajalinna, a Finnish social and health service provider, announced that up to 180 positions could be permanently reduced through ongoing cooperation negotiations. The cuts would affect employees in Kihniö, Parkano, Virto, Ruovesi, Mänttä-Vilppula and Juupajoki, with the largest reductions expected in Virto and Parkano. Negotiations began in early April 2026 and are scheduled to conclude by the end of that month.
The restructuring stems from a recent outsourcing of services to Pihlajalinna, prompting the employer to renegotiate employment terms and potentially create new roles. While the main driver is the service transfer, the changes also reflect broader adjustments in workforce planning. Most of the job cuts are concentrated in Virto and Parkano, with the other locations experiencing fewer reductions. Sote ry, represented by deputy chair Anneli Helander, is involved in the negotiations.
The employer began cooperation negotiations covering the whole country at the end of March Pihlajalinna 2026 - FI

As a result of the concluded negotiations, a total of 139 social and health care jobs will be lost in the region. On the other hand, 61 new positions will be created. These will be offered primarily to employees facing the threat of layoffs. The final number of employees at risk of being laid off is therefore at least 78.
