European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Volvo Bil i Göteborg, a Swedish subsidiary of Volvo Cars, announced the closure of its operations in Göteborg, resulting in the loss of 200 jobs. An additional 20 jobs are facing redundancy at Volvo Cars Sweden. he restructuring concerns commercial and administrative functions linked to Volvo Bil i Göteborg and related activities within Volvo Car Sverige.
The plant’s shutdown is part of a strategy aimed at strengthening competitiveness and long-term profitability. The layoffs were commenced on 24 November 2025, with negotiations with trade union representatives taking place.
