Description
H&M Logistics, a Swedish logistics subsidiary of the H&M group, announced the closure of its distribution centre in Ghlin, near Mons, Belgium, which will result in 440 job losses. The consultation process has begun.
All affected jobs are located at the Ghlin distribution centre, with operations planned to be transferred to two logistics centres in Torrejón in Spain and Casalpusterlengo in Italy.
The facility is a key retail distribution hub for the company’s Southern Europe network. The decision follows a meeting of the works council and reflects challenges facing the fashion industry, including increased digitisation, shifting customer behaviour, and a growing demand for multi-channel services, prompting the company to optimise stock management and consolidate operations into centres in Spain and Italy. All 440 redundancies will occur in Ghlin.
