Description
Pernod Ricard, a French spirits group, announced a major restructuring involving the loss of 140 jobs (17% of the workforce) at its Paris headquarters near Saint-Lazare station, out of a total of 821 employees.
The restructuring is driven by a difficult business environment in the global spirits market, marked by declining sales, particularly in China and the United States, geopolitical tensions, trade sanctions and uncertainty over tariffs. Changing consumer behaviour and a slowdown in certain key markets have further weighed on performance. In response, the group aims to simplify its organisation and improve agility by adapting its structure to evolving market conditions.
The plan will involve consultations with employees and social partners over several months, with a potential communication of figures in the group’s forthcoming annual results in late August. While specific job numbers are not disclosed, the plan is expected to affect staff across the company’s operations in France, including its headquarters in Paris, as well as sites in Cognac and Reims.
Pernod Ricard employs around 18,500 people worldwide, including approximately 4,000 employees in France.
