Description
4Murs, a French retailer historically specialised in wallpaper and wall coverings, announced the closure of its 77 stores in France, resulting in 350 job cuts. The stores will be shut progressively from February 2026, with all closures completed by early June 2026. Since February, four stores has been shut every week.
The decision follows a long-term decline in the wallpaper market, driven by a slowdown in housing construction, shifts in consumer spending, the decrease in purchasing power, the housing crisis, and increased competition from online retailers. The company aims to shift its business to online sales. It will also recenter its business around wallpapers and wall coverings, after broadening its scope to house decorations in the last years.
This is the fourth job saving plan in two years. The company currently has a workforce of 400 employees.
