Description
LAT Nitrogen (priorly Borealis), a company specialised in nitrogen fertilizers, announced the transformation of its site in Grandpuits-Bailly-Carrois (Seine-et-Marne). 128 jobs out of the total workforce of 140 will be cut. This decision was made by the Czech owner who is not satisfied with the rentability of the site. Other factors have played a role such as the high energy costs, and unfair competition.
The twelve remaining employees will support the transformation of the site in a fertiliser storage unit, of products coming from Normandy.
Trade unions and employees will strike in March, following which negotiations with management will debate. The job saving plan will take place until July. The job cuts will take place in a year.
