Description

The Plaza Group, an Irish motorway services operator, opened the new Banner Plaza service station near Ennis, County Clare, creating 120 jobs. The €20 million facility officially opened in April 2026 after a decade of development. The expansion aims to improve motorway services and regional connectivity along the M18 between Limerick and Galway. The site includes eight super-fast EV charging points. All 120 jobs were created at the Banner Plaza site near Ennis. The project also involved local contractors, suppliers and professional service firms during construction, but these jobs are not included in the reported total. Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment and Minister for Transport Darragh O’Brien welcomed the investment. No trade union involvement was reported. The Plaza Group operates several motorway service stations across Ireland, including Barack Obama Plaza. Banner Plaza includes restaurants, a convenience store, fuel facilities, parking areas and EV charging infrastructure.
