Description
Miccolis, an Italian public transport company operating in the urban transport sector, has announced 68 job cuts affecting urban transport workers in Matera, Basilicata, southern Italy, following the planned cessation of its urban transport service on 30 June 2026.
This restructuring is linked to Miccolis losing the Matera urban transport contract to another operator. There is also uncertainty surrounding the formalisation of service contracts in other municipalities, particularly Potenza. Miccolis has urged the local and regional authorities to sign the urban transport contract within a defined deadline.
The job losses in Matera are expected to occur through a collective redundancy procedure triggered by the transfer of the service to a new operator.
A further meeting is scheduled for next week at the regional government offices, involving trade unions, businesses and the municipality of Matera. This meeting could lead to new developments.
