Description

CSG, a Czech defence and ammunition manufacturing group, announced the creation of a joint venture in Greece to produce large‑calibre ammunition and TNT. The investment concerns the defence manufacturing sector and is expected to create several hundred jobs at the Lavrio industrial site, southeast of Athens, increasing employment from around 120 workers currently to up to 300 by the end of the year.

The expansion is driven by sharply rising European demand for artillery ammunition and explosives linked to the war in Ukraine and wider EU efforts to strengthen defence industrial capacity and strategic autonomy. The project is also supported by the EU ASAP programme aimed at expanding ammunition production in the EU.

The project involves multiple institutional partners. The joint venture was established by CSG through its subsidiary MSM Greece together with the Greek state‑owned company Hellenic Defence Systems. Under the agreement, MSM Greece will have managerial control of the Lavrio site for 25 years, allowing for long‑term investment and modernisation
