European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Avion Express, a member of the world’s largest provider of ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance) services Avia Solutions Group, has announced that it is reducing the size of its fleet and laying off up to 110 employees in Lithuania. The layoffs will take place over a six-month period from May 3 to October 30.
Due to rising fuel prices, airspace restrictions, and general market uncertainty, European airlines are reviewing their summer plans and reducing the number of scheduled flights, which is also decreasing the demand for ACMI services. The number of employees expected to be laid off is as follows: up to 53 specialists from the Technical Maintenance Department; up to 29 specialists from the Flight Operations Department; and up to 28 administrative staff (including finance and accounting, legal, human resources, and other specialists).
Despite the pullback in Europe, the Avia Solutions Group maintains its ambitions in other regions. Avia Solutions Group brings together companies operating in Lithuania and Slovakia, while the recently established Avion Express Brasil is successfully continuing its operations and plans to expand its fleet this year. Currently, the company operates 54 aircraft and provides services to such companies as Eurowings, Transavia, and Air Algérie.
