Description
Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding group, announced the hiring of 1,000 new workers across Italy to support its business development plans. The recruitment concerns production-related roles, including workers, technicians and engineers involved across all phases of shipbuilding and construction processes, and will take place nationwide. The hiring programme is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, with recruitment already underway.
The expansion is linked to the group’s 2023–2027 business plan, which focuses on strengthening human capital, upgrading shipyards and production processes, and underwater armament systems . Particular emphasis is placed on digitalisation, notably the use of artificial intelligence, alongside investments and partnerships aimed at maintaining the company’s competitive position in the European shipbuilding sector. The hiring plan is also partly driven by labour and skills shortages in both production and technical functions.
Fincantieri employs more than 21,000 people worldwide, with around half of its workforce based in Italy.
