Description
Thales, a French high-technology company specialising in defence, aerospace, digital and cybersecurity technologies, announced plans to recruit 240 employees in Romania as part of a global hiring drive of more than 9,000 new employees in 2026: Thales 2026 - WO. The recruitment concerns engineering and technical roles.
The recruitment aims to support the group’s continued growth across its core business sectors, driven by sustained demand for advanced defence, aerospace and digital solutions due to strong demand for defence systems and rising defence budget. The expansion is linked to long-term investment in high technologies, including software and systems engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and data-related activities. Around 40% of the new roles globally will be in engineering, while approximately 25% will be in industrial positions such as technicians, operators and engineers.
Thales has a significant presence in Romania, where over 650 software engineers are currently employed at the Engineering Excellence Center in Bucharest, the largest of the group’s three global software development centres. Thales operates in 68 countries and employs around 83,000 people worldwide.
