Description
EDAG, a German engineering services provider in the automotive sector, has announced plans to cut around 500 jobs in Germany. The reduction of a further 500 jobs by the end of 2026 is part of a wider redundancy programme affecting more than 22% of the company’s workforce in the country. In 2025, 800 jobs were already cut [EDAG 2025 – DE] (https://apps.eurofound.europa.eu/restructuring-events/detail/203247).
The restructuring is due to be completed by the end of 2026 and follows a significant deterioration in business performance due to the crisis in the automotive industry, falling demand from key customers and project delays. Alongside these cuts, the company also aims to improve efficiency by expanding global development centres, particularly in India, and by diversifying into new sectors such as defence, medical technology, semiconductors and energy. The job cuts will be achieved through a combination of measures such as natural attrition and other cost-cutting measures, as well as the use of short-time working.
EDAG has over 8,000 employees at more than 70 locations worldwide and a turnover of 714 million euros.
