Description
Ziegler France, a road transporter, subsidiary of the Belgian Ziegler Group, was declared bankrupt by the Lille Court in 2026, rendering 1,370 workers redundant. The company was placed in judicial receivership on 2nd of March. Despite the fact that the company has been in financial distress for over two years, this gave them less than a month find viable buyers.
Ziegler France comprises four subsidiaries: ETI Transport, Satra, Ziegler Services, and Dornach. The latter two have been granted an additional month of obervation period by the Court in an attempt to preserve jobs and business activities. The 110 workers they employ, are not included in the immediate job losses announced as part of the liquidation. The management of Ziegler France issued a statement explaining that the bankruptcy was caused by a lack of demand, decreased profitability due to energy costs, loss of contracts, and a failure to renegotiate debts.
The CGT trade union criticised the lack of transparency despite the company's long-standing financial distress. Earlier intervention by the courts could have saved jobs, and secured better takeover offers.
In total, Ziegler France employs a total of 3,200 individuals in 16 countries.
