Description
Vestas, a Danish manufacturer of wind turbine components operating in the manufacturing sector, announced the reduction of approximately 440 jobs at its Lindø production site, mainly affecting employees in production as well as night and weekend shifts.
The job losses are part of an internal reorganisation initiated to adjust the company’s capacity to current production needs, with redundancies expected to start immediately.
Trade union Dansk Metal has expressed strong concern about the impact of the restructuring and is preparing to support employees and workplace representatives during the forthcoming consultation and negotiation processes. The company will explore opportunities for redeploying affected employees to other Vestas sites in Denmark.
Vestas employs around 7,000 people in Denmark, including approximately 1,300 at the Lindø facility, where the company will continue producing nacelles for offshore wind turbines.
