Description
Aumovio, the automotive components division spun off from German automotive giant Continental, has decided to withdraw from Lithuania, where it operates two units in the Kaunas Free Economic Zone: Aumovio Autonomous Mobility Lithuania and Aumovio Global Holding. The company employs a total of about 800 people, all of which will be affected. The closure of the Lithuanian plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2028.
According to Aumovio representatives, the Kaunas division’s operations have been significantly impacted in recent years by declining demand, prolonged underutilisation of plant capacity, and increasingly complex logistics. In light of this, the suspension of operations at the Kaunas plant has become inevitable.
The supervisory board of the Aumovio group has approved the decision to initiate an information and consultation process with local employee representatives. The company states that it is committed to ensuring a predictable, socially responsible transition process and to mitigating the impact on employees as much as possible.
